A tape measure is a good start

A room that fits.
One step at a time.

Try an example in seconds, then replace its measurements with your own. You do not need an account, a photo, or any design experience.

For a worked example, explore our 3 × 3.4 m bedroom layout with a single bed and desk. Its measured plan, furniture positions and access notes show what to record before adapting a room to your own space.

  1. Measure the real room

Record the inside wall-to-wall width and length, ceiling height, door width and offset, and window width and sill height. Choose centimetres or feet and inches above the editor. Switching keeps your typed values; use Save or Update to apply them. Incomplete fields must be corrected before switching. Switching alone does not change the room. The planner supports rectangular rooms from 150 to 1,000 cm per side.

  2. Add what you already own

Measure each piece's width, depth and height. Catalog and starter sizes are examples, not measurements of your furniture. The arrow shows the front; a bed's front is its foot. Positions are measured from the room's top and left edges.

Browse furniture opens an illustrated library of 17 starting pieces. Search or filter by sleep, work, storage, seating or tables. Browsing keeps your room unchanged; choosing a piece adds it. Select Furniture finish in its settings for sage, linen, walnut or slate, then Save furniture. The finish changes its appearance in the plan, 3D and exports, while measurements stay the same.

  3. Mark what cannot move

Under Fixed areas, add a measured obstacle for a column or built-in feature, or a keep-clear area for floor space you want to leave empty. Both exclude furniture; only obstacles block walking and front access. Up to eight areas stay fixed in every suggestion. Heights, heat and safety distances are not assessed; the 3D preview shows floor markings.

  4. Move, inspect, compare

Drag in 5 cm steps, or enter exact positions in the settings. Use the planning-check shortcuts to inspect a warning. Conflict outlines update while you drag. Show route check adds green reachable grid cells and dashed outlines around access zones the check cannot reach. Lock any position you want to keep, choose a priority, then Find layouts. Compare is only a preview; Use option applies it and can be undone. Zoom and Pan view change only the view; Fit room brings the whole plan back. Selected furniture shows its dimensions and straight gaps to each wall. These gaps are not walking-clearance or furniture-delivery checks. The buttons beneath a selected piece move it by 1 cm or rotate it without dragging. Edit selected measurements opens and focuses its settings.

Lock position keeps a selected piece in place during dragging, alignment and layout search. Place against a wall moves its footprint to the chosen wall without rotating or resizing it; review any new planning warnings. Both actions can be undone. Tables use the same front-access check as other furniture; complete seating space around all sides of a table is not assessed. Add chairs as separate pieces.

  5. Keep a copy

Open Save & export. Export project downloads the editable JSON backup. Download floor plan creates a measured SVG; Download PNG image creates an illustrated image; Print plan opens a clean print view. Comparing an option also offers a before/after PNG without applying it. Browser-local saving is convenient but can be cleared by browser settings, private browsing, or storage eviction.

Save different rooms and options

My rooms holds up to 30 named checkpoints on this device. Save the working draft as a new room, or explicitly replace a saved room when you want to update it. Editing the autosaved draft never silently changes a checkpoint. Save option beneath a suggestion keeps that arrangement directly, without applying it. Select two saved rooms to compare their plans. Open, duplicate, rename, back up or remove a saved room there. Opening one replaces the working draft and can be undone. Removing a saved room does not remove the current draft.

Protect browser storage asks your browser to reduce automatic eviction. It may decline, and clearing site data still removes rooms. Exported project files are your portable backup; neither saved rooms nor PNG images are uploaded automatically.

Keyboard and touch

Tab to a piece on the 2D plan. Arrow keys move it 1 cm, Shift + arrows move it 10 cm, and R rotates it. Locked pieces cannot be dragged or keyboard-moved. All measurements can also be edited using the forms, so dragging is never required.

Common questions

Why did it find no arrangement?

The search is bounded, not exhaustive. It may miss a valid layout. Check the door, front directions and locked positions; try fewer pieces. A narrow door may be outside the planner's 60 cm route-check model. Keep correct real measurements, even if the planner cannot validate them.

Does a passing layout mean it is safe?

No. The planner checks rectangular footprints, conservative door zones, front access and a grid-based route. It does not certify fire exits, wheelchair access, structural changes, side access to beds, full drawer travel, or moving furniture through doors. Confirm all dimensions and access in the real room.

Why does 3D not work on my device?

The optional preview needs WebGL 2. Older devices, browser settings or memory limits can prevent it from starting. The 2D plan, exact measurements and exports remain available. Nothing needs a server GPU.

Where did my project go?

Local saving belongs to this browser and site address. It does not sync between devices or HTTP/HTTPS origins. Import your exported project file to restore a backup. If local saving pauses, Export current work keeps a portable file. Retry local save is available for temporary failures. When another tab changed your project, Review saved draft lets you inspect it first. Keep a copy and load saved draft preserves your current room as a named checkpoint before loading. If the library is full, back up and remove a checkpoint first; your current work stays in place.

How do I share or delete a link?

Sharing uploads one fixed snapshot only after you consent. Keep the separate private deletion link. Editing the local room does not update a shared snapshot. The public link expires after seven days; use the private link to delete it sooner. Lost deletion links cannot be recovered through an account.
